Notice on Cross Test and Adjustment of Designated Testing Institutions for Passengers from Saudi Arabia to China before Boarding the Plane

From March to April, the flight SV884 from Saudi Arabia (KSA) to China has been suspended as a result of imported coronavirus cases. In order to reduce the cross-border spread of the pandemic, ensure the operation of direct flights, starting from May 1st , all passengers(including long term residents and short term visitors) taking SV884 need to take cross PCR test at different testing institutions designated by the Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia or Chinese Consulate-General in Jeddah and undergo a quarantine management at home or hotel for 14 days before boarding. The specific requirements are as follows:

I.Cross tests of PCR
All passengers planning to China must take the first PCR test at a medical institution designated or recognized by the Chinese Embassy in KSA or Chinese Consulate-General in Jeddah at least 14 days before boarding, and enter a closed loop of self-quarantine after obtaining a negative test result, then shall take a second tests for both PCR and IgM at another designated testing centre within 48 hours of boarding.
Test method requirement: PCR should be tested by Nasopharyngeal swab and IgM should be tested by venous blood.
Time requirement: The above required test time refers to the sampling time. The time of the first test should be accounted 15 days( or 16 days) back from the day of the flight, while time of the second test should be within 48 hours from the departure time. For example, passengers taking the flight of May 20th should take their first test on May 5th (or 4th), while the second test after 3:15 am of May 18th .
Test institution requirement: The two tests should be taken in the same consular district, because the embassy and the consulate-general are responsible for applications in their own district, which means if passengers take the 14 days test in institutions designated by Chinese Consulate-General in Jeddah, they should take the 48 hours test in another institutions designated by Chinese Consulate-General in Jeddah.

II.Materials required for "HDC" code
1) negative nucleic acid test result at least 14 days before boarding the flight;
2) negative nucleic acid test and IgM anti-body test results within 48 hours before departure in another designated institution ;
3) passport information page, visa page and itinerary of air travel;
4) COVID-19 vaccination certification (for passengers who are vaccinated);
5) Letter of Commitment on COVID-19 Vaccination (for passengers who are vaccinated with a positive result of IgM test. (Please Find Attached).

III. Passengers who have a COVID-19 infection record
Passengers who have a COVID-19 infection record refer to those who have been diagnosed with Covid-19 by a medical institution, or have a positive test record of PCR, IgM or IgG antibody test (not including positive test result due to vaccination), though never diagnosed with Covid-19 by a medical institution.
the following additional materials are required:
1)a healthy proof of lung CT or X-ray examination report at a local qualified hospital ;
2) two negative nucleic acid test reports after recovery (with at least 24 hours interval,PCR test must be conducted at the same time or after CT or X-ray examination)
Then the HDC application can proceed as normal, and the materials are also required:
3)negative nucleic acid test report at least 14 days before boarding the flight;
4) negative nucleic acid test and IgM anti-body test results within 48 hours before departure in another designated institution ;
5) passport information page, visa page and itinerary of air travel;
6)COVID-19 vaccination certification (for those who are vaccinated)

IV. Passengers who have unprotected contacts with confirmed Covid-19 patients or asymptomatic corona virus carriers are requested to take the PCR & IgM test after at least 14 days of self-isolation since the unprotected contact. With both negative test reports, applicants should enter the 14 days closed loop of self-quarantine and take the PCR & IgM tests 48 hours before boarding.

V. Connecting flights are not accepted
To reduce the potential risk of cross-infection during connecting flights through multiple countries, the Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia or Chinese Consulate-General in Jeddah no longer accept HS/HDC code applications for passengers going to China from Saudi Arabia via connecting flights from 3rd December, 2020. All passengers flying from the KSA to China must choose the direct flight-SV884.
