Notice on the Launch of Online Application and Appointment for Chinese Visa

To provide visa applicants with standard and quality services, in accordance with the unified deployment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of P.R.C, the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will initiate the online visa application and appointment system from May 10,2021. The specific arrangements are as follows:

I.As of May 1st, visa applicants are required to log on http://cova.mfa.gov.cn  and fill in the visa application form online. After completing the form online, you may enter the visa appointment interface by clicking the button of "Start to book appointment", or log on http://avas.mfa.gov.cn, enter your contact information and Application ID to make an appointment for visa application.

Applicants are required to submit passports and other required documents to the Chinese Embassy with the printed complete application form and signed Confirmation of Online Visa Application as per scheduled appointment.

II. To ensure the smooth transition to the online application and appointment, from May 10th to June 9th, the applicants may still submit the old version paper application forms without online appointment. As of June 10th, 2021, the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will no longer accept old version paper application form and will strictly implement the online application and appointment.

III.Exceptions to the above arrangements:

a. The visa application for Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions of China will remain unchanged, and there is no need for online visa application and appointment.

During the COVID-19 period, for enquiry of visa policies of Hong Kong and Macao, please visit the official websites of Immigration Department of Hong Kong SAR (http://www.immd.gov.hk/) and Public Security Police Force of Macao SAR (https://www.fsm.gov.mo/psp/cht/main.html) for details.

b.The diplomatic and special passport holders as well as those who apply for diplomatic or official visas do not need to make an appointment. However, applicants are required to fill in and print the complete online application form pursuant to the above-mentioned requirements. Applicants may directly submit the application to the Chinese Embassy. IV. Due to the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will only accept visa applications for the following applicants:

a. Applicant who has obtained an "Invitation Letter (PU/TE)" or a "Verification Confirmation of Invitation" issued by the Foreign Affairs Office of the provincial government or the provincial department of commerce of the intended place of visit for visiting China for essential economic, trade, scientific and technological purposes or for working in China;

b. Applicant who is holding Foreigner's Residence Permit of China (issued by the Chinese immigration in China) for work, private purposes or family reunion that expired after 0 am, 28 March 2020, needs to go to China for the same visiting purpose as shown on the Residence Permit, and if the applicant can provide relevant documents as required.

However, foreign nationals holding valid Chinese residence permits (issued by the Chinese immigration in China) for work, personal purposes and reunion do not need to apply new visas.

c. Applicant who intends to visit an immediate family member in China (including parents, spouse, children, grandparents, grandchildren) who is in critical medical condition and in need of care, or to arrange funeral matters of an immediate family member in China.

d. Applicant who qualifies for a crew (C) visa.

e.Applicant (including accompanying spouse and children under the age of 18) who qualifies for a high-level talent (R) visa.
