    The relations between the People's Republic of China and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf(GCC) grew steadily in 2013.
    In January, Vice Minister Zhang Xiaoqiang of the National Development and Reform Commission visited Saudi Arabia at the invitation of the GCC Secretariat and met with Abdul-Aziz Aluwaisheq, GCC Assistant Secretary General, and Hamad bin Sulaiman Al-Bazai, Saudi Arabian Deputy Minister of Finance and GCC Coordinator General for Negotiations.
    In September, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the GCC troika, namely Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmad Al Khalifa of Bahrain, the current GCC chair, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sabah Khalid Hamad Sabah of Kuwait, the next GCC chair, and GCC Secretary General Abdul-latif Al-Zayani on the sidelines of the general debate of the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on China-GCC relations and regional and international issues of shared interest.
    In December, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Secretary General Abdul-latif Al-Zayani during his visit to Saudi Arabia.
