On June 8, 2023, Vice President Han Zheng met with Lord Mayor of the City of London of the United Kingdom (UK) Nicholas Lyons in Beijing.

Han Zheng said that China and the UK enjoy sound momentum and immense potential in economic and trade cooperation, and financial cooperation has increasingly become a new driving force for practical cooperation between the two sides. London is one of the most internationalized financial cities in the world. The City of London is not only the “heart” of London’s economic development but also a world-famous financial center. Currently, China is firmly committed to expanding high-standard opening-up in various fields, including finance. China is ready to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with the British financial communities to promote the sustained and sound development of economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Nicholas Lyons praised China’s great success in economic and social development and expressed confidence that China will successfully achieve its future development goals. Noting the extensive common interests shared by the UK and China and promising prospects for financial cooperation, Nicholas Lyons said the City of London is ready to deepen cooperation with the Chinese government, enterprises, and financial institutions to achieve win-win development.
