On September 15, 2026, Ambassador of China to Saudi Arabia H.E. Chang Hua met with the newly appointed Deputy Minister for Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Khalid Al-Qahtani.

Ambassador Chang noted that the China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership has continued to deepen, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries are becoming increasingly close. Given the unstable security situation in the Middle East and the recent escalation in Yemen and the Red Sea, the Chinese government attaches great importance to safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese institutions, enterprises and citizens overseas. Chinese embassy and consulate are obligated to provide consular protection and services, and we hope that the relevant Saudi authorities will take effective measures to protect the safety of Chinese institutions, enterprises and citizens in Saudi Arabia. We also remind Chinese citizens to abide by local laws, regulations, and customs.

Mr. Khalid Al-Qahtani stated that Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to developing relations with China. Saudi Arabia welcomes more Chinese citizens and enterprises to visit Saudi for tourism and to invest and do business there, and is willing to strengthen coordination with China on relevant consular matters to ensure the safety of expatriates from all countries, including China, in Saudi Arabia.
